Madhumita Acharya Biswas is a trained vocalist specializing in Geet, Ghazal, and Bhajan, with formal education in Indian classical music. She has performed extensively on platforms like Doordarshan, All India Radio, and international stages, recording multiple albums. She also teaches music, has judged competitions, and offers online classes for aspiring singers.

Madhumita Acharya Biswas was initiated to music by her mother Late Sabita Acharrya of Bishnupur Gharana at the age of six. After she had developed her skills in the 'cerebral' Bishnupur style, Madhumita chose to go the popular way. She received special training in Geet, Ghazal and Bhajan from exponents like Pandit Subodh Dubey, Shrimati Sabita Roy, Shri Nimai Dutta, Shri Anand Mohan Pathak, Shri Biman Mukhopadhyaya, Shri S. Mishra and Pandit Jwala Prasad. She has also had formal music education from Bangiya Sangeet Parishad from (where she obtained Sangeet Prabor) and Indira Kala Sangeet Viswavidyalay, Khairagarh (from where she earned an M.A Music in first class.)

Madhumita first performed on Doordarshan Kolkata at the age of 16. She got empanelled with All India radio when she was 18. Then onwards, she has been a regular performer on Doordarshan, All India Radio and various music channels.

Madhumita also holds a B.ED degree and has taught students lessons in music and other subjects for many years. She has been a music trainer for World Culture Festival, organised by Art of Living Foundation in 2016. She has also acted as a judge in numerous competitions and scholarship tests, including at Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Eight music albums recorded by Madhumita are on Hindi Bhajans, Bengali devotional, Sindhi Sufi, and modern Bengali songs. Some of her recent notable stage performances have been at Probasi Bharatiya Diwas, Ahmedabad attended by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, programme on devotional songs on the occasion of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s birthday etc.

Some of Madhumita’s recent international performances have been in Myanmar on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister’s visit there (2017), Egypt and Qatar on behalf of ICCR (2017), performances at San Francisco for Sivananda Yoga Centre, Sai Mandir Pleasanton etc (2017).
